About the race
AfrikaPro is South Africa's big international one loft series, raced from a loft complex in Limpopo. It started in 2022 with 111 fanciers and 1,270 pigeons, and by 2024 had grown to 258 fanciers and almost 2,900 birds from South Africa and abroad. The 2026 series pays out US$1.3 million.

After training flights and a 115 km activation race, the series is ten races on consecutive weekends: a Sprint Series of five races from 200 km to 330 km, then an Enduro Series of five races from 380 km up to the final over about 601 km. The series starts in August, with the final in October.
There are two ways to enter. A full team (US$16,000) can fly for every title, including the Black Jacket for Fancier of the Year, worth US$100,000 to the winner. A single-bird entry (US$800 per pigeon) races for the Ace Pigeon (Blue Jacket), Sprint (Green Jacket) and Enduro (Brown Jacket) titles and every race, and the final alone pays US$75,000 to the winner. All birds that come home from the final are sold at auction afterwards.
