About the race
Blue Hills One Loft Race in Crowthorne, Midrand, flew its first season in 2026 under the motto "For the love of our pigeons". The focus is on perfect health and condition: babies go through quarantine, are vaccinated and homed, and then follow a programme of progressive training to keep losses as low as possible.

Entry for the 2027 season is open now. Birds are taken from 15 August 2026 to 31 January 2027, and formal training starts in April. The race programme has six hot spots from Ventersburg (about 253 km) to Colesberg (about 600 km), with the final from Hanover, about 670 km, on 12 September 2027.
Each hot spot pays R15,000 to the winner and the final R50,000, with R50,000 for the ace pigeon too. Payouts are based on 600 paid entries and are paid about ten days after each race. Fanciers who enter get weekly progress updates.
