About the race
SAIPR, the South Africa International Pigeon Race, started in 2021 at its loft complex in Krugersdorp, west of Johannesburg, and has since added a second loft in Cape Town. Both lofts fly a summer and a winter series, so there is an SAIPR final somewhere in the country for most of the year.

Entries work in teams: each entrant sends six pigeons, five race the four hot spots and one is kept in reserve. After the last hot spot three birds are nominated for the final, and the rest can fly the Challenge Race. The Krugersdorp lofts take up to 150 teams per series and Cape Town up to 100, and once a loft is full it closes to entries.
Fanciers get regular WhatsApp video updates, arrivals are streamed live on Facebook and YouTube, and official results come from Benzing Live.
